Poker Pro Saulo Costa Claims NL500 Regulars Won't Be Crushed by Linus and Stefan

Poker player Saulo Costa, a frequent guest on the main page, recently made a controversial statement that a good NL500 regular would not be crushed in a 3-max game against Linus and Stefan. In a YouTube video, Costa was asked if he could finish a 3-max game with Linus and Stefan in a small minus. He responded that any player with a good understanding of theory and exploitative play would not be destroyed in a 3-max game, regardless of the composition.

George 'you-mad-br0' Frogatt challenged Costa's statement, asserting that many players have excellent win rates in 3-max games. He provided examples of players with high win rates, such as luismi1912, who had a win rate of 10bb/100 in 2022 and 7bb/100 in 2023. Frogatt also mentioned that luismi1912 played almost 500k hands with a win rate of 9bb/100 on NL1k.

Costa, however, remained unconvinced, arguing that the examples provided by Frogatt were not statistically significant. He also mentioned that he had data from his students, who played over 700k hands against bots in 5-max games and did not lose 8bb. The debate continued with both players presenting their arguments and data.
