Texas Authorities Raid 21 Locations, Seize $2M in Illegal Gambling Bust
Texas authorities conducted a significant operation against illegal gambling, resulting in the seizure of over $2 million and the arrest of four suspects. The large-scale operation in the Galveston area saw the execution of nearly two dozen search warrants on suspicion of illegal gambling. The probe started in June following a tip about illegal gambling.
Officers with the Galveston Police Department’s Vice and Narcotics Unit executed search and arrest warrants across Galveston County. Law enforcement identified potential illegal gambling dens across the City of Galveston, Texas City as well as La Marque. In total, 21 locations were raided as part of the crackdown.
Each of the suspects faced charges for allegedly participating in organized criminal activity and illegal gambling. The bond for each of the suspects was set at $250,000. In Texas, individuals who engage in organized criminal activity involving illegal gambling usually face felony charges. Depending on the severity of the crime, if found guilty, suspects can receive a penalty varying between 180 days up to two years in jail.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
