Ethan 'Rampage' Yau Loses Massive Pot in High-Stakes Poker Showdown

Ethan 'Rampage' Yau, a well-known poker player and content creator, experienced a tough night during a high-stakes poker game on Hustler Casino Live. Yau, who has 374,000 subscribers on YouTube and 247k followers on Instagram, participated in the livestream on Friday, Oct. 30. Unfortunately for Yau, he was the second-biggest loser of the night, with a final tally of -$176,200.

A significant portion of Yau's loss came from a key hand he played against 'Dumbledore', who wound up as the biggest winner of the night with $389,200. The hand arose towards the very end of the session. With blinds of $100-$200 and two straddles on, stream regular Peter Wang limped from the big blind with 8♠7♥. Dumbledore raised to $4,000 from the first straddle with A♥10♠ and Yau woke up with K♥K♦ in the second straddle. Yau made it $15,000 to go, and Wang got out of the way. Dumbledore came along and whiffed the flop of 7♣6♦2♣. He checked and Yau opted to check behind with his overpair to the board. The turn brought the 10♦ to give Dumbledore top pair. He led out for $20,000 and Yau flatted to bring the pot to $71,100. The 10♥ on the river gave Dumbledore running trips.

Dumbledore fired an overbet of $125,000 into the middle, sending his opponent deep into the tank. Yau alternatively stared at his opponent, the board, and the ceiling as he considered the call. Eventually he said, “What happens when you have as strong of a hand as possible, but it feels bad?” “I dunno, you’ve earned all of the action in the world. I think folding seems absolutely ridiculous,” he continued. He announced a call and was shown his opponent’s three of a kind. “Why’d I think so long? Think long, think wrong.” With that, Dumbledore took down the massive $321,100 pot to grow his stack above $627,000.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
