West Memphis Welcomes New Animal Shelter with Casino Support
West Memphis, Arkansas, has a new animal shelter thanks to a significant contribution from Southland Casino Hotel and Delaware North. The Carolyn and Ness Sechrest Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, located at 1800 Southland Drive, is a $2.3 million investment that provides improved facilities for dozens of cats and dogs awaiting adoption.
The new shelter, named in honor of Carolyn and Ness Sechrest, who advocated for better animal care, offers a larger space for animals awaiting a family. The facility can accommodate 48 dogs and 40 cats and includes separate quarantine areas for ill animals, as well as extra room for emergencies.
The project was a collaboration between Southland Casino Hotel, Delaware North, the Arkansas Greyhound Kennel Association, and other organizations. The city recognized the generous $1.7 million contribution from Southland Casino Hotel and Delaware North, which played a central role in the development of the new shelter.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
