Poker Player Rayz Rayl Aims to Win $40,000 in a Year with $1/$2 and $1/$3 No-Limit Hold'em
Rayz Rayl, a seasoned poker player, has set an ambitious goal to win $40,000 in a year by playing only $1/$2 and $1/$3 no-limit hold'em. He aims to achieve this by playing an average of 30-35 hours per week. Rayz Rayl will primarily play at Horseshoe Indiana (90% of the time) and Hollywood in southern Indiana (5% of the time). He will buy in for between $300 and $800 per session, ensuring that any losing session will not exceed $800. All statistics, including balance, $/hour, and plus/minus sessions, will be kept in the Poker Journal app.
Rayz Rayl will spend no more than $5,000 on tournaments, with buy-ins ranging from $300 to $1,700. He started playing poker at 25 years old, inspired by Chris Moneymaker. At that time, he was a math teacher and later transitioned to full-time poker. He has two daughters, aged 9 and 2, and has been in a civil union for 15 years. Rayz Rayl considers himself a religious person but does not view poker as a sin. He has a degree in mathematics and plans to share his journey openly, including both highs and lows.
Rayz Rayl's goal is not just about the money but also about proving that a skilled player can achieve significant wins at these limits. He believes that the psychological aspect of poker is crucial and that understanding his opponents is key to success. He plans to write about his experiences at least twice a week and may also include a video blog. Follow his journey on Twitter at http://twitter.com/RayzRayl.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
