Poker Strategy: Simplifying Bet Sizes in Early Streets

Poker players often face the challenge of deciding how many bet sizes to use in their strategy. MarkNyet discusses the difference in expected value (EV) between using multiple bet sizes and using a single bet size in poker.

Solvers like Piosolver, GTO Wizard, GTO Base, and GTO+ use many bet sizes in each node of the game, which can make it difficult to maintain balanced ranges. However, using a single bet size can simplify the strategy and reduce the risk of errors and exploitation.

The Spin Project will release a series of videos teaching a strategy with a single bet size in the first streets. In the river, it is worth having a strategy with more than one bet size.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
