Poker Player Analyzes Hand Against Passive Opponent with Coach's Feedback

Ivan A_NAVI40K_K analyzed his hand played against a passive opponent. The opponent had a VPIP of 58/6.2, 3-bet of 5.2, WTSD of 24, WSD of 46, WWSF of 42, and street aggression of 26/46/48.

Ivan decided to check-raise on the flop instead of betting. On the turn, Ivan strengthened to top pair plus flush draw and decided to continue aggression. On the river, Ivan decided to check with a strong hand, which turned out to be a bluff catch.

Trainer Alexander shpr0ta commented on Ivan's decisions and strategies. He suggested that against a passive fish, it might be better to simplify the hand by betting outright rather than check-raising. On the river, shpr0ta advised that checking with a strong hand against a passive player is more of a slow play rather than a bluff catch.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
