Phil Ivey Triumphs Over Patrik Antonius in WPT Heads-Up Championship

Phil Ivey has been crowned WPT Heads-up champion after defeating Patrik Antonius in the final of the $25k buy-in tournament played out on the Poker King app.

The event took place in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with the field of 32 playing online on the Poker King app but mostly physically located across the table from each other.

Ivey won $400,000 for his victory, while Antonius took home $200,000 for his second-place finish. Sam Greenwood and Christopher Kruk each won $100,000 for their third-place finishes. The final was a best of 5 affair with Doug Polk and Jamie Kerstetter in the commentary booth.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
