Pensioners and Students Battle in Massachusetts Lottery
The Cash WinFall lottery in Massachusetts had tickets priced at $2, with players choosing six numbers out of 46, and a roll-down starting at two million dollars.
Jerry Selby, a pensioner from Michigan, received an email from an investor about the Cash WinFall lottery in Massachusetts. The investor suggested that Jerry and his group could participate in the lottery. Jerry Selby and his wife Marge traveled to Massachusetts to buy lottery tickets for the Cash WinFall lottery. They worked with a local store owner, Paul Maradas, to use his store's terminals for purchasing tickets.
Students from MIT formed a lottery pool and developed programs to track the availability of showers and washing machines in the dormitory basement. James Harvey, a mathematics student at MIT, studied lotteries as part of a course project and identified the Cash WinFall lottery as a potential opportunity. The MIT students' pool, Random Strategies LLC, had a standard turnover of $600,000 to $300,000 tickets. Yin Zhang, a researcher at Boston University, discovered a flaw in the Cash WinFall lottery and formed his own pool, Doctor Zhang Lottery Club Limited Partnership. The Massachusetts State Lottery management was aware of the unusual betting patterns during roll-downs but took no action.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
