Poker Player Oksana GorbunOK Discusses Top Pair Hand Against Tough Opponent

Oksana GorbunOK opened AQo from UTG and received a call from MP, hitting top pair on the flop. The opponent's range was considered to include flush draws, pairs of queens, second and third pairs, sets, and gutshots.

Oksana decided to play check-raise with top pair top kicker on the flop. Igor Budda1985 recommended expanding the preflop opening range to 17% and using a 2.5bb opening size from UTG and MP.

On the turn, Oksana considered the opponent's range to include flush draws and pairs of queens. On the river, Oksana decided to call the opponent's all-in bet, considering it a bluff.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
