Nikita Bodyakovsky Shares Insights on Poker Strategy and Travel
Poker player Nikita Bodyakovsky recently shared his experiences and advice from his time playing in the SHRB series on Cyprus. Bodyakovsky mentioned that while he enjoyed the offline experience, he lost around $500k in the series. He played a cash game with Jungleman, which he found very enjoyable. Bodyakovsky is planning to fly to the USA next week for poker tournaments. He also advises focusing on one poker discipline to maximize success, believing that switching between different poker games can lead to a loss of focus.
Bodyakovsky's journey to obtaining a US visa was also an interesting one. He mentioned that he flew to Kyiv and applied for a visa extension without visiting the embassy, an option typically available only to locals. Despite initial rejections, he managed to secure a visa through a loophole in the system, which he believes is applicable only to Belarusians in Ukraine.
In addition to his travel plans, Bodyakovsky shared insights on poker strategy. He emphasized the importance of avoiding tilt and maintaining optimal play. He also discussed the psychological aspects of poker, noting that players often make decisions based on what is psychologically comfortable rather than what is correct. Bodyakovsky believes that focusing on one discipline can help players achieve better results and maintain their focus.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
