NFL Urges Supreme Court to Decide on Sports Prediction Markets

The NFL has called on the U.S. Supreme Court to rule on whether prediction markets constitute gambling. The league submitted an amicus brief on Thursday, which further supports efforts by New Jersey to have SCOTUS come up with a ruling on whether sports event contracts are in fact gambling, and if they are therefore subject to local gaming laws and the regulators administering these statutes.

The CFTC has maintained that it is the one that has purview in the matter of sports event contracts, despite pushback from state regulators.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
