Maksym Shtun: Prediction Markets Could Be Only P2P
Maksym Shtun, Product Owner at Slotegrator, discussed the growth and differences of prediction markets compared to traditional sportsbooks during the SBC Summit Lisbon 2026. He explained that the U.S. market for prediction markets is shaped by its unique regulatory structure, requiring only one license from the CFTC, while global growth is driven by crypto adoption, technology, and a younger generation familiar with trading and financial markets.
Maksym Shtun noted that many players are migrating from sportsbooks to prediction markets because they prefer the lack of restrictions and the collaborative nature of prediction markets. The younger generation, more interested in trading, stocks, and exchanges, finds prediction markets easier to enjoy.
Maksym Shtun stated that the fixed-odds option in prediction markets is not viable and sportsbooks risking their infrastructure by venturing into fixed-odds prediction markets are taking an unnecessary risk.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
