MLB Teams Up with Polymarket to Safeguard Game Integrity

Major League Baseball signed a deal with Polymarket last week, making the company MLB’s official prediction market exchange. This partnership comes alongside a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Michael S. Selig, chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), which regulates the industry. The league pursued the MOU to ensure game integrity issues would yield swift responses from the CFTC.

The organizations plan to share information regarding the integrity of professional baseball and related prediction markets. This information will be treated confidentially, according to MLB, and representatives from each organization will meet regularly to discuss issues that may impact game integrity.

Other leagues have also ventured into prediction markets. The National Hockey League partnered with both Polymarket and Kalshi in October, giving the platforms access to NHL data and logos, with both brands featured during broadcasts. Additionally, the UFC and MLS have deals in place with prediction markets.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
