Michael Jordan Joins DraftKings, Venetian Hosts Live Poker Series
Michael Jordan, the NBA legend and principal owner of the Charlotte Hornets, has joined DraftKings as a special advisor. In this role, Jordan will receive an equity stake in exchange for providing guidance and strategic advice on key business initiatives. This move has already boosted DraftKings' share price, highlighting the significant impact Jordan's involvement will have on the company.
The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is making a big return to the live poker scene with a 32-tournament series. The $400k Deepstack Poker Showdown Series, running until September 27th, marks the first major live poker event in a Covid-19 dominated world. The series includes a flagship finale: a $100k GTD, $400 buy-in NLHE Showdown from September 23rd to 27th.
Safety measures have been implemented to ensure the well-being of all participants. Venetian tournament director Tommy LaRosa emphasized the importance of these protocols, which include plexiglass dividers at each table, allowing for eight-handed play, and mandatory mask-wearing regardless of the dividers. All tables, chairs, chips, and dividers are sanitized regularly to maintain a safe environment.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
