Joe Ingram Shares His Journey and Tips on Pot-Limit Omaha
Joe Ingram, a renowned poker player, has shared his journey and insights into Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) in a recent video. Ingram started playing PLO in 2010, initially playing 24 tables of $2/$4 to achieve Supernova Elite status on PokerStars. This status required accumulating a million VPP (VIP Player Points), which was a significant challenge.
Ingram's journey was not without its ups and downs. He made a bet to achieve Supernova Elite status in just 2.5 months, playing PLO intensively. This bet involved playing up to 16 hours a day, and although he faced significant losses, he ultimately won the bet and achieved his goal. In January 2011, Ingram won around $100,000 by playing $5/$10 PLO, marking a significant turning point in his career.
However, Ingram's success was followed by a period of struggle. He lost a significant amount of his bankroll due to mixing different 'drugs'—a metaphor for different poker games. This setback led him to return to the USA and eventually start playing PLO again, focusing on mid-stakes and high-stakes games. Ingram advises that becoming a professional in PLO requires a lot of time and effort, especially for those transitioning from No-Limit Hold'em.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
