Cristiano Ronaldo and Poker Pros Battle High-Stakes in December 2010

In December 2010, the poker world was abuzz with high-stakes action, featuring some of the biggest names in the game. Cristiano Ronaldo, the renowned football player, joined the fray, playing PLO $1/$2 against Daniel Kayts, who goes by the username jungleman12. Ronaldo, using the nickname CR7sete, surprised many with his poker skills and even engaged in friendly banter with other players.

Patrik Antonius, another high-profile poker player, also joined the action. He played NLHE $25/$50 against Ronaldo, and the match drew significant attention from the poker community. Antonius, known for his aggressive play, found himself in a heated battle with Ronaldo, who showed no signs of backing down.

IHateJuice, another top poker player, engaged in a intense 1,650-hand battle against Patrik Antonius. The match, played over two sessions, saw IHateJuice initially leading with a $230,000 win. However, Antonius managed to turn the tables and finished the second session with a $167,456 win. Phil Ivey also joined the high-stakes action, playing against IHateJuice and losing $90,000 in their match.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
