Chris Moneymaker Retires from PokerStars, Dives into Crypto and Betting
Chris Moneymaker, the poker legend who won a charity poker tournament that sparked the poker boom, has retired from PokerStars after a 17-year partnership. Moneymaker announced his decision to focus on cryptocurrency and occasionally play online poker.
Moneymaker ended his partnership with PokerStars, a decision he made after spending more time at home with his family due to the pandemic. He shared that the idea of traveling 50-70% of the time had lost its appeal, and he preferred to spend more time with his family.
In addition to his retirement from PokerStars, Moneymaker is working with Faraz Jaka to improve his poker skills. He is also actively betting on the U.S. presidential election, with various bets ranging from 1 to 3 and even 25 to 1. Moneymaker's unique fame allows him to control when and where he is recognized, making his public appearances manageable.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
