Andreas Torbergsen Analyzes a PLO Hand: Pre-Flop 3-Bet Strategy

Andreas Torbergsen, a leading online professional specializing in pot-limit Omaha, has won millions of dollars playing at the highest stakes. He gained widespread recognition in September 2010 when he won over a million dollars in 24 hours on a $500-$1,000 PLO limit. Torbergsen has been creating educational videos for CardRunners since 2010 and works on the website Nutblocker.com, focusing on mixed games and Omaha.

In a recent analysis, Torbergsen examines a hand where Hero (with a stack of $29.60) plays 6-max PLO $0.10/$0.20 online. An opponent with a stack of $68.52 raises $0.60 from the middle position, and Hero re-raises to $2.10 with Ah Qh Th 4c. The button player (with a stack of $39.91) calls cold, and the pre-flop raiser also calls. The flop is Kh Qd 3h, and Hero bets $4.20. On the turn (9d), Hero bets $12, and the button goes all-in for $33.61. The river card is 7c, and the button shows Qc Jd Td 5c, winning with a straight.

Torbergsen discusses the pre-flop 3-bet with Ah Qh Th 4c, noting it is questionable due to the hand's marginal strength. He advises that a 3-bet should be used to exploit weaknesses in the opponent's strategy, but be prepared for 4-bets from other players. Torbergsen recommends 3-betting with strong hands that play well in multi-way pots and speculative hands that play well in heads-up situations.
