Anatoly Zyirin Wins Big in Mixed Omaha Tournament
Russian poker player Anatoly Zyirin made a significant mark in the poker world by winning a bracelet in a mixed Omaha game with a $1,500 buy-in. For his victory, Zyirin received a substantial prize of $199,838.
During the tournament, Zyirin played several games including PLO, Big Bet Mix, and Omaha Hi-Lo. He mentioned that he felt he was playing negatively on the second day of the tournament, facing numerous challenging situations. Despite these difficulties, Zyirin felt that his tournament strategy, including ICM (Independent Chip Model), gave him an advantage. He noted that many of his opponents did not fully understand ICM, which allowed him to make strategic decisions that others might overlook.
One of the most crucial hands Zyirin mentioned involved a mistake where he went all-in against a better low-draw with flush-draw. This hand highlighted the complexities and risks involved in high-stakes poker. Despite this error, Zyirin's overall performance was impressive, showcasing his skill and strategic thinking in the game.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
