Yans Arends Shares Three Key Rules for MTT Players
Yans Arends is a Dutch poker player who has won around $500,000 in live tournaments. He is particularly known for his success in MTT (Multi-Table Tournament) tournaments, both online and offline.
On his Twitter page, Yans Arends shared three key rules for MTT players. These rules are based on his extensive experience and observations in the poker world. Here are the three rules:
- If your opponent plays a 3-bet from the big blind, they always have something.
- If your opponent plays check/push on the turn, they always have a two-pair combination.
- If your opponent plays a 4-bet but not all-in under 50 big blinds, they always have QQ+ (except for C.darwin2).
Yans Arends added that if an opponent calls a 4-bet, they always have a pair of aces, but this is so obvious that it's not worth mentioning.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
