World Series of Poker Dealers: How Much They Really Earn

Dealers at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) earn significant amounts of money in tips from players. The exact amount that a dealer makes in tips can vary greatly, but it can be substantial. Some dealers at the WSOP have reported earning several thousand dollars in tips over the course of the tournament.

The median hourly wage for casino dealers is $11.75 per hour as of May 2021, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). However, this can vary by location and specific casino. Some casinos may pay their dealers more or less than this amount, and some dealers at the WSOP may earn more than this due to the prestige of the event and the potential for large tips.

There have been several instances of players leaving large tips for dealers at the WSOP. In 2012, amateur player Greg Merson won the Main Event and tipped each of the dealers $50,000. In 2018, the winner of WSOP Main Event John Cynn tipped $50,000 to the dealers. In 2014, Martin Jacobson, the winner of the Main Event, tipped $80,000 to the dealers. A year later In 2015, the Main Event winner Joe McKeehen gave a tip of $50,000 to the dealers. Meanwhile, in 2017, Scott Blumstein, the winner of the Main Event, tipped $25,000 to the dealers.
