Vanessa Kade Emerges Victorious in Charity Poker Showdown Against Alex O’Brien

Vanessa Kade emerged victorious in a highly anticipated $10k charity heads-up poker match against Alex O’Brien, organized by America’s CardRoom. The event gained significant attention after Dan Bilzerian, who was supposed to face O’Brien, backed out of the showdown.

O’Brien, a science writer and poker amateur, had won a $100k freeroll tournament on GGPoker. The match was initially supposed to be between O’Brien and Bilzerian, but the controversial figure refused to honor the agreement. America’s CardRoom stepped in to organize the charity match, giving O’Brien the chance to compete against Vanessa Kade, who had also been a target of Bilzerian’s misogynistic behavior.

Kade, a Canadian poker professional, had recently won the Sunday Million 15th Anniversary on PokerStars, securing a massive $1,514,920 payday. The charity match was a best-of-three heads-up duel, with both players starting with 175BBs. Despite O’Brien’s early lead, Kade’s strategic play turned the tables, leading to her victory. O’Brien received coaching from several poker professionals, including Fedor Holz, Jamie Kerstetter, Maria Ho, Olivier Busquet, and Kara Scott, but Kade’s experience and skill ultimately prevailed. The winner, Kade, donated $10k to her chosen charities, making a significant impact with her victory.
