US Poker Open 2021: High-Stakes Tournaments Resume After Pandemic
The US Poker Open series is held for the third time. In 2018, Steven Chidwick won the series, and in 2019, David Peters emerged victorious. This year, the series featured 12 tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $10,000 to $50,000.
The first tournament, $10,000 NLHE, had 95 entries, making it the most attended in the series' history. Dan Shulman was the chip leader at the final table, closely followed by Steve Zolotov. Jake Daniels won the first tournament.
Sam Sooverel was the chip leader at the final table of the second tournament, $10,000 PLO, with nearly half of all chips. Joe McKeehen won the third tournament, $10,000 NLHE, after eliminating five of his six opponents. Daniel Negreanu played all the opening tournaments but did not make it to the prize money in any of them. Shon Perry won the fourth tournament, $10,000 Big Bet Mix, against John Riordan. Adam Hendricks and Joe Weissman were the final two players in the fifth tournament, $10,000 NLHE. Eli Elezra won the sixth tournament, $10,000 8 Games, against Steve Zolotov. David Peters won the seventh tournament, $10,000 NLHE, after leading the final table. Brock Wilson, a close friend of Ali Imsirovic, finished fourth in the seventh tournament.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
