Umut Ozturk Wins Second MSPT Main Event Title in 2026, Honors Late Mother
The 2026 MSPT Spade Poker Championship at FireKeepers Casino in Battle Creek, Michigan attracted 2,442 entries.
Umut Ozturk won the 2026 MSPT Spade Poker Championship, earning a career-best $280,290 payday. This victory came with 1,080 Card Player Player of the Year points. He climbed to just outside the top 150 in the 2026 POY standings presented by CoinPoker. This was his third POY-qualified score so far, with each being an outright win.
Umut Ozturk dedicated his win to his late mother, who passed away from terminal cancer. “Last time I was here in May, my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer, so I had to leave and go back home. She passed away a couple of months later, and I told myself, when I come back to Michigan, I was going to ship it,” he said. “Even though she wasn’t here with me physically, I felt her the entire weekend, so this one is dedicated to my mother.”

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
