The first stage of the Triton poker series in 2019 took place in the South Korean province of Cheju Island. Four out of seven tournaments in the series had buy-ins ranging from 250,000 HKD (~$32k) to 2 million HKD (~$250,000).
Russian-speaking players who traveled to Korea included Sergey Lebedev, Nikita Bodiakovsky, Furkat Rahimov, and Timofey Kuznetsov. The main tournament lasted three days with hourly levels, while other tournaments had 40-minute levels. The action was broadcast online with commentary by Randy Lew and Lex Veldhuis.
Tournament #1, with a buy-in of 250,000 HKD, had 65 entries with 28 re-entries. Sergey Lebedev and Brin Kenny were among the six players who registered the maximum allowed number of re-entries, which is three. Nikita Bodiakovsky finished in 6th place, while Sergey Lebedev was in 8th place in the chip count. Justin Bonomo won the tournament despite starting with the 13th stack. Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
