Tom Dwan Reflects on His Poker Career and Future in Exclusive Interview
Tom Dwan, widely recognized in the poker community as 'durrrr,' has had a remarkable career spanning 17 years. He began playing poker at the age of 17, and his journey has been filled with high-stakes games and international travel.
Dwan spent several years in Macau, where he played some of the highest-stakes poker games. His experiences in Macau were significant, but he also faced challenges adapting to the local culture. He mentioned that while he enjoyed many aspects of Chinese culture, the prolonged stays were difficult for him. He often traveled to other countries like London, Canada, and the USA to take a break.
During the pandemic, Dwan lived in Hong Kong for 7 months, an experience he described as very unusual. Despite the challenges, he has recently resumed traveling and even participated in the filming of High Stakes Poker. Dwan is currently collaborating with Poker King as a poker ambassador, a role he finds fulfilling. He appreciates Poker King's ambition and the direction the company is taking.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
