Spain's Gaming Industry Braces for Major Regulatory Changes
Gaming in Spain is scheduled to take place on Thursday, October 15, 2026, in Madrid. The event will focus on new gambling restrictions introduced by the Spanish government, including a cross-operator deposit limit and a new problem gambling detection algorithm.
The event will be attended by key figures such as Mikel Arana, Director General of the DGOJ, and Jorge Hinojosa, Director General of Jdigital, making it a crucial platform for discussing the immediate future of Spain’s regulated market.
Licensed operators have signaled strong opposition to the new restrictions, with plans to resist the measures. Jdigital has indicated it will not cooperate with the government and the regulator until at least after next year’s parliamentary elections. Xavi Munoz, a gaming lawyer and Managing Partner at ECIJA Barcelona, suggested that operators could consider legal action in response to the government-backed plan.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
