Poker Pro Sami Kelopuro Shares Tournament Strategies
Sami Kelopuro, a seasoned poker player, shares his strategies for tournament play. He advises players to avoid unnecessary coin flips, especially early in the tournament. Kelopuro suggests playing small pots and not getting involved in all-ins with marginal hands.
Ax Kx vs. Nicolas Chouity
Kelopuro recounts a hand from the EPT Grand Final in Monaco where he had Ax Kx against Nicolas Chouity. Despite having a deep stack, Kelopuro chose to call a 3-bet rather than go all-in. The flop was Tx 4x 4x, and Kelopuro checked. Chouity bet half the pot, and Kelopuro called again. On the turn, another ten came out, and both players checked. The river was a blank, and both players checked again. Chouity won the pot with 6x 6x. Kelopuro reflects on his decision, noting that a 4-bet would have ended the hand on the preflop but is satisfied with his cautious play.
Qx Qx and the Big Raise
In another situation during the EPT in San Remo, Kelopuro raised with Qx Qx from the middle position and received four calls. The flop was Tc 9d 4d, and Kelopuro understood his hand would look weak if opponents took aggressive action. He bet 10,000, and the player behind him went all-in for 90,000. Kelopuro considered the possible hands his opponent could have, including straights, sets, and two pairs. He decided to fold, acknowledging the risk but choosing not to continue with a likely losing hand.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
