Poker Pro Sam Trickett Takes a Break to Focus on Family
Sam Trickett, a professional poker player from Nottingham, England, has decided to take a temporary break from his career to focus on his growing family. The 33-year-old announced the news on Twitter, stating that the arrival of his first child, Bodhi Blu, with his wife Meike Dockley in October 2020, has given him a new perspective on life.
Trickett's poker career began in 2005 when he was an apprentice plumber. He discovered his talent for the game at the Dusk Till Dawn poker club in Nottingham. His skills quickly improved, and he began to dominate the poker scene. Over the years, Trickett has won $21,782,558 from live tournaments alone, making him the second most successful live tournament player from England, behind Stephen Chidwick.
One of Trickett's most notable achievements was finishing second in the $1,000,000 Big One for One Drop, earning him more than $10 million. He also played a significant $171K cash game pot at Dusk Till Dawn in 2018, showcasing his high-stakes poker skills.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
