Russia's First Major Poker Championships in 2008: A Historic Milestone
The first championships of Russia by poker were organized by the casino «Korona», but in 2008, the Federation of Sport Poker of Russia took over the organization.
The creator of the concept of the calendar and the unique structure of prize distribution and blind growth was Alexander Kravchenko, the sole Russian WSOP bracelet holder at the time.
The championship schedule was announced at the beginning of the year with a buy-in of $10,000 and a commission of no more than 6%. Alongside the championship, the stages of the Cup of Russia were held with a buy-in of $5,000. The live internet broadcast of the main tournament with open cards remained a dream for Russian poker. The room «1917» took over the conduct of satellites to the championship tournaments but did not manage to get on its feet.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
