Poker Players Share Extreme Tilt Stories: From Trashing Laptops to Shattering Chandeliers

Poker is a game that can evoke strong emotions, and sometimes those emotions boil over into extreme reactions. Several professional poker players have shared their most intense tilt episodes, revealing the lengths to which they've gone to cope with their frustrations.

Olya Mangustik, a seasoned poker player, found herself in a difficult situation during a WSOP Circuit event. After losing a crucial hand, she felt the need to release her frustration. As she walked out of the tournament hall, she spotted a large trash can and kicked it, causing a loud noise that echoed through the room. Mangustik later reflected on the incident, acknowledging that while she remained calm about the loss, the act of kicking the trash can helped her release pent-up frustration.

Vladimir Salova had a particularly intense tilt episode in 2010. While playing a high-stakes game on iPoker, his laptop froze during a critical hand, causing him to miss out on a potential $2,000 win. In a fit of rage, Salova threw his $300 laptop out of the window and later chopped it to pieces with an axe. This was not an isolated incident for Salova, who has a history of destroying electronics during tilt episodes. Over the years, he has broken eight mice, two laptops, and three monitors.

Andrey Kot_Spartac, another experienced poker player, shared a story from the early days of his career. During a tilt episode, he threw a set of poker chips at the wall, intending to hit it. However, the chips ended up shattering a chandelier instead. Kot_Spartac also mentioned that he frequently destroys mice, usually by throwing them against the wall. He once purchased an expensive, indestructible mouse, only to find that it caused more damage when thrown. The mouse left a large dent in the wall of a rented apartment, leading to a tense situation with the landlord.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
