Poker Set to Become Legal in Japan's Casinos

Japan is set to regulate poker among other games in its casinos, according to a draft issued by the Japanese Casino Regulatory Commission (JCRC). The draft legalizes nine games, including poker, for gamblers to play at licensed casinos. This move is set to boost the gambling infrastructure and provide new opportunities for Japanese poker enthusiasts.

The draft specifies eight different kinds of poker that will be considered legal to play. This variety will give players in the country plenty to choose from. Additionally, the draft permits electronic games, which is the category that online poker falls into. This means that players can enjoy various poker games legally without the fear of being charged for breaking the law.

The period for public feedback about the draft ran from the 2nd of April 2021, to the 9th of May, 2021. Players can expect implementation soon once the commission finalizes and approves the draft.
