Phil Laak Aims to Break World Record with 80-Hour Poker Marathon
Poker professional Phil Laak is gearing up for an unprecedented challenge: playing poker for 80 hours straight to break the world record. Laak, known as "The Unabomber," plans to attempt this feat at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.
The current world record for the longest poker session is held by Paul Zimbler, who played for 75 hours straight during the WSOP Europe 2009. Zimbler's marathon session earned him £35,000 and left him exhausted.
Laak's preparation for the event has been rigorous. Since January 1, he has been training both physically and mentally. His regimen includes running, swimming, and gym workouts five times a week, along with a strict diet that avoids fried foods, cheese, and ice cream. Laak believes that his mental fortitude and physical conditioning will help him endure the 80-hour session. Additionally, he plans to donate half of his winnings to the Camp Sunshine charity, which supports sick children.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
