Phil Hellmuth Wins 16th WSOP Bracelet in Rio, Reflects on Poker Legends
Phil Hellmuth was awarded his 16th World Series of Poker bracelet on Monday, October 18th, at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. Hellmuth has always wanted to win the No-Limit 2-7 bracelet, considering it the coolest bracelet to win. His previous notable attempts at the bracelet include a runners-up finish to Billy Baxter in 1993.
The final table included notable players such as Bob Stupak, Thomas James “T.J.” Cloutier, a six-time bracelet winner. WSOP Vice President Jack Effel introduced Hellmuth and awarded him the bracelet, emphasizing his success and greatness.
Hellmuth ridiculed himself over his emotional outburst directed at fellow poker player Anthony Zinno in the previous week’s $10,000 Stud tournament. He mentioned poker legends such as Doyle Brunson, Chip Reese, Billy Baxter, and Dickie Carson, who used to play 2-7 tournaments.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
