Paul Phua Wins Triton Madrid Event #2: €30K NLH 7-Handed
Paul Phua has finally achieved a long-awaited victory at the Triton Madrid Event #2, securing the €30k 7-handed title worth €740,400. This win holds immense significance for Phua, who co-founded the Triton series with Richard Yong in 2015. The tournament featured some of the world's top high-stakes MTT players, including Phil Ivey, Mike Watson, Fedor Holz, Ike Haxton, and Erik Seidel.
The final table was intense, with Kannapong Thanarattrakul finishing fourth, earning €266,500. Isaac Haxton finished third, earning €340,300. The heads-up battle between Phua and Erik Seidel was particularly thrilling. Phua overcame Seidel’s pocket sevens and pocket jacks to build a huge lead and ultimately win the tournament. Seidel finished second, earning €514,800.
Phua's victory was celebrated by the crowd, marking a significant milestone in his poker career. He reflected on the heads-up battle, stating, “I knew he’d be tough. Erik’s so experienced, such a great player, but anything can happen.”

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
