Owen Messere Shares Insights on Poker Strategy and Hand Analysis
Owen Messere, a renowned poker player known for winning the cash game championship on CoinPoker and being one of the best in the world in No-Limit Hold'em, both in 6-max and heads-up formats, recently shared his insights on poker strategy. In a discussion with Uri Peleg, Messere analyzed several hands from Peleg's database played on the GG network.
Messere emphasized that even if someone studies the theory, they won't play a spot better than him if he has a significant amount of experience in it. He also discussed the importance of having traps in a hand where you are squeezed between two opponents. Messere explained that amateurs might overestimate certain hands and play them aggressively.
During the discussion, Messere and Peleg delved into the strategy of playing against amateurs and regulars. Messere mentioned that amateurs might not fold weak hands on low flops, which can be a crucial factor in deciding the outcome of a hand.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
