Marcus Risse Crowned Champion of Battle of Champions 500k
Marcus Risse has made history by winning the Battle of Champions 500k tournament, part of the Suprema Poker Series. The event, held at the Clube Brasil Poker, featured 507 entrants and a guaranteed prize pool of R$ 500,000.
Risse, a member of the Brasil Poker Team, secured a total prize of R$ 80,133.40, including bounties. His victory came after a challenging start, but he managed to recover and lead the tournament from the 25th player left. Risse's strategic play, particularly his use of Independent Chip Model (ICM), was pivotal in his success.
Clovis Viana, another notable player from Rio de Janeiro, finished in second place. Viana, who has been performing exceptionally well in online tournaments this year, took home R$ 66,260.95. The two players agreed to a deal in the heads-up phase, solidifying Viana's strong performance in 2023.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
