Los Angeles Poker Classic Returns to WPT in 2027
The Los Angeles Poker Classic (LAPC) is returning to the World Poker Tour (WPT) schedule in 2027. The main event will run from Feb. 26 through March 3 at the Commerce Casino. The broader LAPC series will kick off on Jan. 15 and conclude on March 7.
The LAPC main event has been a staple on the WPT’s schedule for most of its history. The LAPC main event has had seven-figure first-place prizes in every season except the first. Gus Hansen won the first LAPC main event in 2003. Antonio Esfandiari, Michael Mizrachi, and Phil Ivey were among the early champions of the LAPC main event. Chris Moorman, Anthony Zinno, and David “ODB” Baker also earned titles in the post-Black Friday years.
Balakrishna Patur won the most recent WPT-branded LAPC main event. The LAPC returned in 2021, but it was not part of the WPT schedule. The LAPC only generated 69 entries in 2021, the smallest field since the event jumped from a $7,600 buy-in to $10,000 in 2003. Michael Liang took down the historically small field for $173,300 in 2021. Attendance gradually trended upward before peaking in 2023 with 181 entries. In 2026, there were just 50 entries and Alex Massman won $158,030.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
