Liv Boeree on Poker, Music, and Ethical Dilemmas
Poker player Liv Boeree has been open about her struggles in 2013, stating that the year was not successful and that it partially affected her confidence. She mentioned that when results drop, it's hard to determine whether it's due to variance or poor play. Boeree also discussed her love for rock music, mentioning that she grew up listening to bands like Metallica, Pantera, Children of Bodom, and Iron Maiden. She has had the opportunity to meet and befriend many of these musicians but has not played poker with any of them.
When asked about her dream poker game with five historical figures, Boeree chose Albert Einstein, Buddha, Isaac Newton, Russell Brand, and an ancient person. She explained that she would choose Einstein and Newton to understand their creative processes in physics, Buddha to learn what we don't know, and Russell Brand for his humor. Boeree also mentioned that she supports a campaign to make magazine covers less explicit to avoid offending customers.
Boeree uses Holdem Manager with HUD during her poker games to analyze her strategy. She believes that poker is developing in a positive direction, with both good and bad examples of professional ethics. She also mentioned that the TV show I Bet My Life was canceled due to the channel's decision to focus less on poker. Boeree is grateful to Annie Duke for her advice and support at the beginning of her career, despite the controversy surrounding Duke's involvement in Epic Poker.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
