Macau Junket Kingpin Levo Chan Sentenced to 14 Years for Triad Offences

Levo Chan, the former CEO of the Tak Chun Group, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison. The Tak Chun Group was found to have engaged in “betting under the table” activities in VIP rooms at five of their concessions in Macau. The illegal activities cost the casinos – Galaxy Entertainment Group, MGM China, Sands China, SJM and Wynn Macau – a combined US$25.3 million.

Chan was found to have breached anti-Triad laws concerning ‘criminal association’, in effect creating and leading a criminal syndicate. Chan will also have to repay US$70.5 million in compensation to casinos affected by the illegal operations.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
