Kirill Gerasimov Finishes Second in WSOP Pot-Limit Hold'em Championship

Kirill Gerasimov, the 2008 champion of Russia in Pot-Limit Hold'em, finished second in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Pot-Limit Hold'em Championship, winning $391,369 in prize money. The buy-in for the championship was $10,000.

The final table featured a strong lineup of players, including John Cabbage, who was the chip leader, and Eugene Todd, who was born in Moscow. Gerasimov, known for his patience and strategic play, had a small stack of around 20 big blinds at one point but managed to double up with Q-Q against A-Q.

Gerasimov's strategic moves and patience paid off as he eliminated Eugene Todd in 7th place with Q-Q against A-Q and won a coin flip against David China with K-10s against 5-5. However, he lost a crucial coin flip with 3-3 against A-4 and ultimately lost the final hand with K-K against A-A. John Cabbage won the championship and $633,335 in prize money.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
