From Ukraine to Las Vegas: Eugene Kachalov's Poker Journey and WSOP Return
Eugene Kachalov, a Ukrainian poker player, is returning to the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas after evacuating from Ukraine. Kachalov and his family evacuated from Ukraine to Budapest and then settled in the Czech Republic.
Leon Zuckerberg provided accommodation for over 500 refugees in his hotels. Kachalov has raised over $200,000 for humanitarian needs through his foundation Qlash. He plans to donate at least 10% of his WSOP profits to charity.
Kachalov's best result in the WSOP Main Event was in 2009, finishing 39th. He remembers the event vividly, recalling how he was chip leader with 50 players left but lost 30 hands in a row and was eliminated. He hopes to replicate that deep run this year.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
