Spanish Poker Players Thrive at EPT Madrid 2012
The EPT Madrid 2012 tournament saw Spanish poker players Javier Domínguez “Thalai” and Rubén Setién “GrinderSpa” demonstrate remarkable resilience and strategic play. Javier Domínguez “Thalai” started the day with a strong comeback from the previous day but ended up with one of the smallest stacks among the 24 finalists.
Rubén Setién “GrinderSpa” managed to survive the day with a strategy of patience and timely aggression, ending with 175k chips. His strategy involved staying low and attacking at crucial moments, which paid off as he doubled his chips in key hands.
Efrén García “miedomeda” had a significant increase in chips before losing a crucial hand against Joao Paulo Simao, finishing in 30th place and winning $11,000. His tactical approach of remaining non-aggressive was disrupted when he lost a significant amount of chips in a pivotal hand.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
