EPT Grand Final 2012: Bonomo's Triumph and Coren's Victory in Monte Carlo
The EPT Grand Final 2012 in Monte Carlo was a thrilling event featuring some of the top poker players in the world. On Day 1A, four Spanish players made their mark: Marc Colomé, Dragan Kostic, Pedro Pellicer, and Vedast Sanxís. Unfortunately, one of the Spanish players, known as edukito, was eliminated early on, while the others remained in the game but with reduced stacks.
Day 2 saw the addition of more Spanish talent, including Jonathan Concepción, José Ángel Latorre, Leo Margets, Juanma Pastor, and Tomeu Gomila. The Grand Final Super High Roller was a highlight of the event, with Justin Bonomo starting as the chip leader. Bonomo's dominance was evident as he eliminated key players one by one. He first defeated Daniel Negreanu in a flip, followed by Antonius with a straight, and then Elky with a full house. In the heads-up, Bonomo faced Reinkmeier and secured his victory, winning 1.640.000€.
In the 5,000€ Heads-Up event, 27 players participated, with the final featuring two women: the British Vicky Coren and the American Melanie Weisner. Coren took the first point with a double pair, while Weisner won the second with a strong hand of K 8 against A 6. The third round went to Weisner with a color vs. color hand, but Coren managed to turn the tables in the fourth round, ultimately winning the 58,900€ prize.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
