Dutch Student Creates Gender-Neutral Card Deck, Replaces Kings, Queens, and Jacks
Indie Melink, a 23-year-old psychology student from the Netherlands, has created a gender-neutral deck of cards. The new deck replaces kings, queens, and jacks with gold, silver, and bronze cards. The idea for the new deck came to Indie Melink after asking her father why the king is older than the queen.
Indie Melink believes that even subtle inequalities, such as those in card hierarchies, play a significant role in everyday life. In the new deck, the cards are adorned with gold ingots, silver coins, and a bronze shield.
The first 50 decks of GSB (Gold, Silver, Bronze) cards were quickly sold out to friends and family, and Indie Melink began selling them online.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
