Doug Polk: The Unbeatable King of Heads-Up No-Limit Hold'em
Doug Polk is widely regarded as the best heads-up no-limit hold ‘em player globally. He started his poker journey with a $20 deposit on PokerStars under the screen name WCGRider and grew it to $10,000.
In 2013, Doug Polk played 15,000 hands of $100/$200 heads-up no limit hold'em against Ben Sulsky, also known as Sauce123. After the dust had settled, Polk was $750,000 richer and won the $100,000 side bet. That victory sealed the deal, and no one was willing to play him heads-up afterward.
Doug Polk announced his retirement from poker on his popular YouTube channel in 2018. Despite his retirement, Polk's legacy remains unmatched. He won $1,200,000 against Daniel Negreanu in a heads-up challenge that started from November 4, 2020, until February 3, 2021. Polk has had a very successful poker career with over $9,000,000 in live career earnings, 3 WSOP bracelets, and over 2,000,000 won in online poker, primarily heads-up format.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
