Dong Kim Reflects on His Poker Career and High-Stakes Match
Dong Kim, a prominent poker player, recently sat down to discuss his high-stakes heads-up match against Nick Framing. In the match, Dong Kim won $105,000, playing a total of 15,000 hands. Kim mentioned that he had a significant lead in the second half of the match, which allowed him to change his strategy and focus on maintaining his advantage.
Kim also shared his thoughts on the stress he experienced during the match. He mentioned that he did not expect to experience such stress and that the pressure came from the need to move towards his goal every day. Despite the stress, Kim managed to come out on top, winning the match.
When asked about his tournament play, Kim mentioned that he has played 6 Sunday sessions this year and approximately the same number last year. He also shared that he has played offline tournaments in Barcelona, Florida, and several winter WPT events. Kim started his poker career in 2009 with SNGs for $2 and $5. He won his first tournament by playing extremely tight, a strategy he admits was not the most effective. Kim's journey in poker has been marked by both challenges and successes, and he continues to strive for improvement.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
