Poker Champion Dennis Bliden Sentenced to 6.5 Years for Fraud
Dennis Bliden, the champion of the WPT L.A. Poker Classic Main Event, won $1,000,000 in 2018. Despite his success in poker, Bliden's life took a dark turn due to his gambling addiction. Recently, the 31-year-old was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison for fraud, theft of personal data, and misappropriation of funds.
Bliden was accused of stealing $22 million from StyleHaul, where he worked as Vice President of Accounting and Finance. He used the stolen money to pay for his high-stakes casino games and cryptocurrency purchases. In one year alone, he misappropriated $18 million. The stolen funds were also used to pay off his mounting debts, which were increasing yearly due to his gambling addiction.
Bliden will also have to repay all his debts, including the debt to the company whose funds he stole. In a letter to the judge, Bliden expressed his intention to fight his gambling addiction and methamphetamine habit. Initially, he faced a potential life sentence, but a deal with the prosecutor reduced his sentence to six and a half years.

Argus RivenI've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
