Daniel Negreanu Declines Side Bet, Ethan Yau Wins Big

Poker enthusiasts were treated to an interesting exchange between two prominent figures in the poker world, Daniel Negreanu and Ethan Yau. It all started when Ethan Yau posed a question via Twitter asking his followers to vote on the over/under of the tournament's number of entries.

Daniel Negreanu proposed a side bet to Ethan Yau, willing to bet the farm on the under. However, Negreanu declined the side bet because the $25K High Roller didn’t count toward the PokerGO Tour leaderboard. Negreanu stated, "Doesn’t count for PGT points and I already bought in for Monday 1A. Zero chance I’m playing."

The WPT $25K High Roller attracted 108 entrants, with Ethan Yau among them. Despite initial doubts about his chances, Yau went on a rampage and won the title and first place prize money of $894,240.

I've spent years at the tables — cash and tournaments — and just as long shaping poker copy behind the scenes: room reviews, bonus fine print, tournament notes. At PokerInsider I write the way I wish more sites would: clear structure, honest trade-offs, no hype. Whether you're new or already grinding, I care about what the offer actually costs you — rake, variance, and the fine print — and I treat responsible play as part of the job, not a footnote.
